They Found Me!

You can hide....

I don’t have much else to say about this other than, “Grrrrr…….”

Is comment spam the curse of optimized SEO? I sure hope not.

I love comments. Seriously.  I’m not kidding.

Comments are my chance to connect with friends, readers and similarly afflicted folk. (Boy, we are big “commiseraters” aren’t we?)

They’re also a sign that someone is reading this stuff.  (Can I get a blogging witness for that? For many of us, the first comment on a post means, “Yes! I published correctly.“)

But, these spam comments have suddenly outnumbered the real comments 10-to-1!  I’m willing to sift through and mark them as spam or trash them, but it does mean a delay in publishing your valuable feedback, as well as a delay in responding.

Thank you for reading what I write! And thank you for understanding when it takes me a few days to post your thought-provoking comments.  I’d rather that than expose all readers to the links, non-sequiters, and odd off-color mash-ups that have been popping up.

P.S. I have a soft spot for penguins, as well as Antarctica. But, that’s a story for another day.

Get the Akismet plugin! Works like a charm!

So sorry to hear that they found you. Spam is the worst. Akismet is good, though I found that some Comment systems are better at keeping out spam, too. I had to switch from IntenseDebate to Disqus to get mine under control. So far, so good. Good luck to you. (P.S. Loving the penguins, too.)

I have Akismet. Maybe I’m misunderstanding it’s functions? At least the spam doesn’t get posted to the comments…it just fills my “pending” file and makes me think a bunch of you are TOTALLY into each recent post. 😉
